Using Matchnight
Plain terms for a small app. No boilerplate — if a line here doesn't make sense, it's badly written and we'd like to be told.
Last updated 26 September 2026
It's a beta
Matchnight is still being tested. Things will break, and features will change or disappear.
Keep your own note of anything you'd be upset to lose. A league table is not a system of record.
You'll be told before anything changes that affects a season already under way.
What it costs
Nothing, while it's being tested. If that ever changes you'll be told well beforehand, and nobody is charged without agreeing first. Players won't be charged at all — if Matchnight ever charges anyone, it charges whoever organises the competition.
What you can expect
- Your details looked after, and shown only to the people in your own competition.
- No adverts, no trackers, and nothing sold or given to anybody else.
- A straight answer when something goes wrong.
What can't be promised
- That it's always available. It runs on ordinary web hosting and it can go down.
- That a score is right. Players enter their own results and the app takes their word for it. That's a deliberate choice for groups who know each other, not a guarantee.
- It isn't a booking system, a payment system, or a way to meet strangers. It organises a competition among people who already play together.
Your side of it
Be yourself. Don't join under somebody else's name, and don't enter results for matches that didn't happen.
What you put in is seen by your group — your name, a photo, a note to a partner. Put in nothing you wouldn't say to them in person.
Any player can report a photo. It's hidden from everyone straight away while the host decides.
The competition belongs to its host
Whoever set it up runs it. They can add and remove players, correct scores, change the rules and end the season.
Arguments inside a league aren't refereed here. If you and your host disagree, that's between you.
Leaving
Stop using it whenever you like, and ask for your details to be deleted — the privacy page says how. An account being used to harass somebody, or to break these terms, may be closed.
Who runs it
Matchnight is currently run by one person, not a company. There's no support desk and no contract behind it. If that changes, this page will say so.
Changes to this page
It carries a date at the top. If something material changes while you're mid-season, you'll be told rather than left to notice.
